Greater Orlando Week 12 Hype: The Countdown to Brackets Is On

The regular season is in the books, but the real season is just getting started. Greater Orlando’s top programs spent Week 11 locking in district titles and building momentum, and now the focus shifts to the FHSAA playoff reveal on Friday, November 6, at 5 p.m. First-round regional quarterfinals kick off November 13, with some games possibly starting as early as Thursday the 12th. For teams still on the bubble or fighting for seeding, this week’s makeup games matter. For everyone else, it’s about staying sharp and preparing for the bracket that will define the next month.

The Big Picture

District champions across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Volusia, and Lake counties are already locked into automatic berths. Seminole finished 10-0 and stands as the area’s lone undefeated team, while DeLand (9-1), Lake Nona, West Orange (9-1), Evans, Bishop Moore (8-2), and Edgewater all enter the postseason with hardware or strong momentum. At-large spots will be decided by final MaxPreps rankings, and the new Open Division adds another layer for programs like The First Academy.

Key Makeup Games & Storylines

Week 12 is light on full regular-season slates but heavy on unfinished business. Orlando-area makeup games are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, including matchups involving West Boca Raton at The First Academy (completion of a suspended game), Timber Creek vs. Apopka, and others that could still influence at-large seeding or confidence heading into the bracket.

Ocoee took care of business in one of the early makeups, defeating Boone 21-13 on November 3 to improve to 5-5. Edgewater and Evans mutually agreed not to resume their earlier suspended game, awarding Evans the 6-3 victory by rule. That decision lets both programs focus fully on playoff preparation—Edgewater as Class 6A District 6 champions and Evans coming off a dominant 46-0 win over Dr. Phillips.

Teams to Watch Heading Into the Reveal

Seminole (10-0)

The area’s only perfect team closed with a 30-29 road win at Oviedo and has scored 297 points while allowing just 138 this season. A high seed in Class 6A Region 1 is expected.

  • Karon Palmer Jr. (QB): 68-of-119 for 1,171 yards, 11 TDs, 2 INTs (167.3 Y/G).
  • Lamar Garrison (WR): Productive target, including the 59-yard go-ahead TD in the district title game vs. Ocoee.

Greater Orlando has multiple programs with the talent and experience to make noise once the brackets drop. The regular season built the résumé. Now the postseason decides who keeps playing.
